New Vision, New Leadership, New Growth for AirTight Networks

Over the last few months, we have been thrilled to announce several new additions to AirTight Networks’ leadership team. You can read the press releases from December 18, 2014, June 17, 2015, and July 14, 2015 covering these leadership appointments, but we wanted to take some time to share a holistic view of the latest updates to AirTight’s executive team and vision. Our experienced and innovative leaders will position the company for continued success in the fast-growing enterprise Wi-Fi market.

AirTight’s new executive bench compliments the vision and strategy of co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Pravin Bhagwat. Pravin leads AirTight’s team of incredibly talented engineers in Pune, India, many of whom are PhD graduates that he recruited from IIT (Indian Institutes of Technology), ranked among the top engineering colleges in the world.

Rick Wilmer – Chief Executive Officer

As AirTight’s new CEO, what is Rick Wilmer’s number-one priority? Growth. Period.

He is looking to grow AirTight in several areas: customers, channel, and revenue. Rick plans to accomplish all of this in tight partnership with the rest of AirTight’s executive team, the AirTight engineering team, and supporting the sales team on a mission to become 100 percent channel.

With over 25 years of experience in the networking and storage industry prior to his new role as AirTight CEO, Rick is an ideal leader for AirTight’s new era of growth and expansion in the global Wi-Fi market. He has previously served as COO of AirTight, CEO of Leyden Energy, an executive-in-residence at Lightspeed Venture Partners, CEO of Pilant Technology, and COO of Santur Corporation.

“2015 will be a transformative year for AirTight in terms of market expansion, sales growth and product innovation. We intend to do some spectacular things this year by driving our industry away from the old, expensive and complicated controller-based Wi-Fi to a completely new generation of cloud-based Wi-Fi that supports scalability and ease of use beyond anything that's out there today – all with the very best wireless security.”



Freddy Mangum – Chief Marketing Officer

The most recent addition to round out AirTight’s executive team, Freddy Mangum is a seasoned marketing leader in the network and security industry. Freddy will help accelerate global delivery of AirTight’s cloud-managed Wi-Fi solutions by focusing on a comprehensive and targeted go-to-market strategy but also working in lockstep with AirTight’s worldwide sales team. This will be absolutely key in the future of AirTight’s growth and expansion, and the entire AirTight team is excited to work with Freddy on new marketing initiatives.

Prior to joining AirTight, Freddy was CMO at Lastline, CMO at Roambi, and vice president of product marketing at Fortinet. He has held marketing leadership positions at many leading network and security companies, but also has experience in engineering, sales engineering, and technical marketing roles.

Kester Kyrie – Vice President of Worldwide Sales

A first at AirTight that we are very excited about: Kester Kyrie joined the team to serve as our first-ever channel chief.

A top sales executive, Kester brings a great deal of experience in enterprise and channel sales from his time as vice president of sales for Cyphort and area vice president of sales at Aruba. He is well-positioned to bring the affordability, scalability, security, and simplicity of AirTight’s Wi-Fi solutions to customers and contribute to the company’s worldwide growth.

“In five years, you'll be looking at a company that is much different than it is today in terms of revenue generation and global scope, but with the same focus on midmarket and service provider. Our pricing structure, combined with our zero-touch installation and remote management make our solutions purpose-built for channel sales.”

Under Kester’s leadership, we are actively seeking partners with Wi-Fi delivery in the midmarket, so please reach out if you think a partnership could be a good fit.


And under Kester’s leadership, Todd Ruecker is building out a growing inside sales organization. Todd, AirTight’s new Director of Inside Sales, was previously a regional inside sales manager at Cisco Meraki. Kester and Todd’s vision for AirTight’s inside sales organization will help fuel opportunities for our partners. Paul Gracie also recently joined the AirTight sales team as Vice President, EMEA Sales to help fuel worldwide growth.

Mike Anthofer - Chief Financial Officer

In 2014, Mike Anthofer also joined the AirTight executive team as Chief Financial Officer. Mike brings over 30 years of technology company financial expertise to AirTight. His experience provides a rock-solid financial, general and administrative foundation for the company to begin accelerating growth.

As we continue on our mission of making enterprise Wi-Fi extremely simple and massively scalable to connect billions of devices to the digital world, we are thrilled to have Rick, Mike, Freddy, and Kester join Pravin on AirTight’s executive leadership team.
