Do You Have the Right Network Security Strategy?

by Sean Blanton on Mar 28, 2016

A network-focused strategy for wireless security is the conventional wisdom, but is it really the right one? In our next webinar (Wednesday, March 30th, at 8:00 am PST), I’ll argue that a client-focused strategy is best.

Breaking Conventional Wisdom

It can be difficult to free yourself from an idea that seems to make total sense: protect your network from rogue AP's and those trying to infiltrate through them. I'll be discussing the fundamental problem with the notion of how best to protect the network and whether or not that strategy addresses what is really at stake: your WiFi clients and the precious data they access on a regular basis.

Beware of the Pineapple

You’ve probably heard of WiFi Pineapples. While they are used to conduct legitimate security audits, they also make man-in-the-middle attacks incredibly easy for even the most rookie of black hat hackers. Pineapple “infusions” are great for vodka, but very, very bad for WiFi network security! I’ll give a live demo of a Pineapple Mark V and show you just how nasty they can be. In particular we'll explore:

  • What exactly is a KARMA attack?
  • How easy it is to spoof a Hotspot network
  • The dangers of browsing through a Pineapple AP

Mojo AirTight is our industry-leading WIPS (Wireless Intrusion Prevention System), and makes your job easier with real-time detection and automatic prevention. As we discuss  the best strategy to tackle wireless threats, you'll see just how Mojo AirTight fits into this workflow.
